Billing
(Also See Pricing)

Until you shop around at some of the other editing services out there, you probably won’t appreciate just how fair and reasonable we actually are.

Almost none of them will trust you not to pay in advance — but they all expect you to trust them with your work. We don’t operate that way. Trust should be mutual.

That’s why we structure our billing the way we do. For most projects billed at $35 or less, we charge upon completion and send the invoice along with the finished result. (ESL documents are an exception; see below for specifics.)

For larger projects, we’ll send a sample upon request.

In any case, you’ll be allowed to see at least some of your work completed before you pay your first invoice. It doesn’t get any fairer than that.

Its simple, really: mutual trust. That’s how we retain customers.

By employing this technique, we might be taken advantage of occasionally — but it doesn’t happen often. In fact, you won’t get away with doing it more than once. Besides, what goes around…

  • Manuscripts — of 5 pages or less
(estimated at approximately 250 words per page)

These will be billed upon completion, with payment due upon delivery.

(Invoices must be paid within 7 days.)

  • Manuscripts — of more than 5 pages
(estimated at approximately 250 words per page)

Projects of this size will require payment before work proceeds. Upon request, a partial sample will be sent prior to undertaking the rest of the project. (This will, however, necessarily delay completion.)

In the case of submissions that are quite large (manuscripts of 20,000 words or more),
a proposal will be sent, along with a sample (of approx. 1–5 pages, depending on total ms. length). Upon acceptance of the proposal, a 50% deposit will be required to continue the project. The balance of payment for the project’s completion will be due when editing for the first half of the manuscript has been finished and returned to the client. (If the manuscript is particularly long, other increments may be used instead.)

(Invoices must be paid within 7 days.)

    (priced at $35 or less)

These will be billed upon completion, with payment due upon delivery.

  • ESL Material

For an initial project consisting of only 1 page (containing 250 words or less), the sample will be the project itself, completed and provided to the client, with payment due upon acceptance. For all future projects thereafter, payment will be due in advance.

(Invoices must be paid within 7 days.)

  • Web Pages & Blogs

For purposes of billing, we treat website content just as we do other business documents. If the project totals $35 or less, it will be billed upon completion, with payment due upon delivery. If it totals more than $35, payment will be required before work proceeds.

(Invoices must be paid within 7 days.)
